Yalumba Family Winemakers: Yalumba Cooperage Tour — Barossa Valley
About This Experience
In Barossa Valley: Yalumba has made its own barrels for more than a century, and it is the only producing cooperage attached to a working winery in the Southern Hemisphere. The Cooperage Tour takes you onto the floor for an in-depth explanation of how a barrel is built from raw staves, with the master cooper performing one stage of the process in front of you and time to ask him about a skill that is centuries old. From the cooperage you move to the Yalumba Wine Room for a tasting flight of wines aged in Yalumba-coopered barrels, with an introduction to the company's history and its family owners, the Hill-Smiths. One hour, two to twelve guests, at 40 Eden Valley Road, Angaston. Days and times are limited and confirmed at booking.
