Owner/ chef Ester gave us a special tour and allowed us to make a four course lunch in her home at the winery. We were in awe and loved making gnocchi and eggplant Parmesan. The wine and hospitality were great. We bought 5 cookbooks and I would go back in a second to try more food there.

We had a fabulous time here on the last day of our honeymoon! A very special and private tour filled with fine wine & great staff. We shipped bottles of everything we tasted back to the U.S. ! So good, support this locally owned business if you’re in the area!!

About This Experience

Pompeii in the morning, the Russo family's terrace by lunch: this private-transfer pairing delivers the Bay of Naples' essential double, ancient city and volcanic winery, with the full five-course tasting experience at Cantina del Vesuvio and every transfer handled by an English-speaking driver. The day opens at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, which you explore independently, the format that lets the ruins work their effect. Some visitors need ninety minutes, some need four hours; with a private driver on your schedule and entry tickets (about €16) purchased separately, nobody decides that for you. The reward for a morning on Roman stones is the most storied table on the volcano. Cantina del Vesuvio sits inside the National Park on Vesuvius' southern slopes, where three generations of the Russo family have farmed organic vines in the eruption's mineral-rich legacy soil. Your visit includes the guided winery tour, a private reserved session on the terrace overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Capri Island, a five-course tasting of Lacryma Christi DOC wines, wine vinegar and olive oil tastings from the estate, and a three-course lunch built on Vesuvius-area specialties. Hotel pick-up and drop-off bracket the day, minivan comfort throughout, and the winery's limited production, sold exclusively at the estate, turns the after-lunch browse into a genuine collector's moment: these bottles exist nowhere else, at any price. What distinguishes this itinerary is proportion: enough time at Pompeii to do it justice, and a winery experience treated as the destination it is rather than a lunch stop. The two halves explain each other, the ash that froze a city is the soil that feeds the vines, and tasting that connection is the point of the whole day. Your date confirms instantly online through Wine Trails, booked direct with the operator and with no middleman markup. If you are choosing between the region's many Pompeii-plus-wine combinations, the deciding details are here: the terrace session is private and reserved, the tasting runs five courses rather than three pours, and the oil and vinegar tastings add a dimension most itineraries skip entirely. It is the complete version of the classic day. The Bay of Naples asks one thing of every visitor: see the ruins, meet the volcano. This day answers both, privately, and seats you on a terrace between them with a glass of what the mountain makes now.

We came in 2017 & Returned in 2025

We came in 2017 with our entire family of 7. Today, we visited as a couple. So, the new “wine club” is perfetto. Beautiful views from the ocean and Mount Vesuvius. The wine and pairing is exceptional, come hungry, there’s plenty of food. The wine vinegar is exceptional. We bought 2 bottles. Great deals shipping wine back to the USA.
