Mount Vesuvius Private Wine Tasting and Lunch Tour
Why travelers loved this
4.7 · 3 reviewsOwner/ chef Ester gave us a special tour and allowed us to make a four course lunch in her home at the winery. We were in awe and loved making gnocchi and eggplant Parmesan. The wine and hospitality were great. We bought 5 cookbooks and I would go back in a second to try more food there.
We had a fabulous time here on the last day of our honeymoon! A very special and private tour filled with fine wine & great staff. We shipped bottles of everything we tasted back to the U.S. ! So good, support this locally owned business if you’re in the area!!
About This Experience
A private minivan, the ruins of Pompeii at your own pace, and a reserved terrace session at the Russo family's winery: this private tour is the unhurried way to pair the Bay of Naples' two essential experiences, with an English-speaking driver handling every connection from hotel pickup to final drop-off. Pompeii comes first, explored independently, which seasoned visitors will tell you is the right way: no group pace, no headset, just you and the streets the eruption of 79 AD preserved in ash. Your driver positions you at the entrance and collects you when you have seen what you came to see; entry tickets (about €16) are purchased separately, keeping the timing entirely in your hands. Then the same volcano that took the city gives back. At Cantina del Vesuvio, three generations of the Russo family have made organic Lacryma Christi on the National Park's south-facing slopes, and your visit is a private reserved session on the terrace overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Capri: a guided winery tour, a five-course tasting of Lacryma Christi DOC wines, tastings of the estate's wine vinegar and olive oil, and a three-course lunch of Vesuvius specialties. The private format is what separates this from every coach version of the same day: your morning at the ruins is as long as you want it, your table on the terrace is reserved rather than shared, and the day breathes at your group's pace, not a schedule's. The family's limited production is sold exclusively at the winery, so the tasting doubles as your only chance to buy these wines anywhere on earth, an argument for leaving luggage space. Your private date is confirmed instantly online through Wine Trails, booked direct with the operator and with no middleman markup on the price. Families and small groups get particular value from the private minivan: strollers, grandparents and different walking speeds all fit inside one flexible schedule, and the terrace lunch gives everyone the same reward. Bring sun protection for the ruins, the ancient streets offer little shade, and an appetite for the volcano's table. Two thousand years separate the ash that buried Pompeii from the wine in your glass at lunch, and this day closes the distance in a single private arc: ancient city, living volcano, family table, and a driver making all of it effortless.

We came in 2017 & Returned in 2025
We came in 2017 with our entire family of 7. Today, we visited as a couple. So, the new “wine club” is perfetto. Beautiful views from the ocean and Mount Vesuvius. The wine and pairing is exceptional, come hungry, there’s plenty of food. The wine vinegar is exceptional. We bought 2 bottles. Great deals shipping wine back to the USA.
