KAWARAU GORGE TRAIL BLAZER WITH WINE TASTING & PIZZA LUNCH Kawarau Gorge Trail | 1 Day - Self-guided 32km (Grade 2-3, Intermediate) >> Gibbston-Bannockburn from Queenstown The most anticipated cycle trail to launch, we are excited to introduce the Kawarau Gorge Trail, a feat of trail engineering connecting Gibbston wine country with Bannockburn wine country. Be among the first to ride the much-anticipated Kawarau Gorge Trail which connects the network of Queenstown Trails starting in Gibbston with the Central Otago trails starting in Bannockburn. This self-guided eBike tour includes Premium eBike rental, lunch at Bannockburn Hotel and shuttles for access at either end to connect with the trail. The Kawarau Gorge Trail follows the path of the early settlers who explored the region during the gold rush period. The trail defies engineering - traversing bluffs, crossing above the Kawarau River on clip-on bridges, meandering along paths that have been built and shaped to sit naturally within the challenging terrain. Enjoy stunning scenery, including rocky outcrops, the magnificent Kawarau River, and historic gold mining settlements. Wind beneath the Nevis Bluff and enjoy access to previously inaccessible terrain through the gorge. Stop at Bannockburn Hotel for fabulous Central Otago hospitality where a burger and drink is on the menu - a great way to top celebrate a ride well done! The views over Bannockburn pair very well with lunch! Then join the Lake Dunstan Trail as it winds along the Bannockburn Inlet towards the Cromwell Heritage Precinct and onward to the Kiwi Journeys depot in Cromwell. This all inclusive option makes it easy - all biking equipment, wine tasting & pizza lunch, and associated shuttles are included. Just turn up and enjoy the ride! • Leaving Gibbston behind, stunning scenery abounds - rocky outcrops, the gushing Kawarau River, historic goldmining settlements...this trail has it all! • Wind beneath the Nevis Bluff, and enjoy access to previously inaccessible terrain along the gorge • Journey across two suspension bridges that cross the Kawarau River • Stop in at the Goldfields Mining Centre to explore the gold mining history of the area (optional, entry not included) • Stop in to the Bannockburn Hotel for a celebratory meal (included) • Connect with the return shuttle to Queenstown at the Kiwi Journeys depot in Cromwell Check-in: Queenstown at 7.50am for an 8am departure from the loading zone in front of Alta Queenstown, 8 Duke St (this location is opposite the rear of the Kiwi Journeys CBD storefront at Browns Ski Shop, 39 Shotover St) NB: Departure from Arthurs Point also available - 8.15am from the bus stop outside the Swissbel Resort, Arthurs Point. Please advise preferred pick-up at time of reservation. Return: Check bikes in to the Kiwi Journeys Cromwell depot by 4.15pm to catch the shuttle back to Queenstown, departing at 4.30pm **We also operate this tour cycling from Cromwell to Gibbston with shuttles connecting to the trail heads. Cancellation Policy Single Day Tours and Bike Hire a. If cancelled on the day of your booking or after midday the day before, no refunds will be given. b. If cancelled by midday (12pm) up to the day before your booking then a $50 per booking handling fee applies. NB: If possible, Kiwi Journeys will work with you to re-schedule your trip. A $50 per booking rescheduling fee will apply. All clients will be required to sign a waiver prior to departure.
