About This Experience

The day opens at Wētā Workshop, the creative powerhouse behind The Lord of the Rings, Avatar and The Rings of Power: a 90-minute immersive experience showing how the props, costumes, creatures and models were made, with the Weta Cave shop and a short documentary on filmmaking history on the Miramar Peninsula. Then it's out to the locations themselves — Helm's Deep, Minas Tirith and Mount Doom, the Taita levee where Peter Jackson filmed in his own backyard, and Kaitoke Regional Park, which served as Rivendell. Costumes are on hand for cosplay photos: dress as Gandalf, Frodo or your favourite character at the filming locations.
